He was born on February 28, 1946, in Montauban, France and began his career with FC Lorient. In just four years at the club, he became one of the best strikers in the country.

He was known for his speed, agility, and ability to score goals. He scored over 150 goals during his time at PSG, which made him one of the most successful goal scorers of his era.

One of Cazaux' most memorable moments came in 1972 when he scored a crucial goal against Real Madrid in the Champions League Final. He scored the winning goal after being fouled by Diego Maradona. The goal set a new record for the Champions League Final scoring and helped PSG reach the final.

Cazaux also had a successful international career. He played for France from 1969-1976 and was a key member of the national team that won the World Cup in 1978. He was named to the FIFA World XI in 1978 and was also selected for the UEFA Euro 1972 squad.
